Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what data Learnex collects, why, and how it's handled. We built Learnex to be something students can trust with their own course material — this page is meant to be genuinely readable, not a wall of boilerplate.

1. What We Collect

• Account information: your name, email address, and profile picture, provided by Google when you sign in.
• Uploaded material: the files you upload (PDFs, images, documents) so Learnex can generate study content from them.
• Usage data: quiz results, mastery progress, and which topics and subjects you've studied, so Learnex can track your progress and unlock features like the final subject quiz.
• Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, billing is handled entirely by our payment processor. Learnex never receives or stores your full card details, card number, or CVV.
• Support communications: emails you send to [email protected], used solely to resolve your request.

2. Why We Collect It

Every piece of data above exists to make the Service work: signing you in, generating study content from your own material, tracking your progress, and billing you correctly if you're on a paid plan. We don't collect data for advertising, and Learnex doesn't run ads.

3. Who We Share Data With

We use a small number of trusted service providers ("subprocessors") to run Learnex. Each only receives what it needs to do its specific job:

• Supabase — authentication and database hosting
• Cloudflare (R2 & Pages) — file storage and website hosting
• Anthropic & Groq — AI processing of your uploaded material to generate explanations, quizzes, and flashcards
• Fishaudio — AI voice narration for video and audio lessons
• AWS (Remotion Lambda) — video rendering for AI video lessons
• Render — backend server hosting
• Our payment processor — payment processing for paid subscriptions (your full card details go only to them, never to Learnex)
• Sentry — error monitoring to help us fix bugs (no uploaded content is sent)

We don't sell your data to anyone, and we don't share your uploaded material with other users.

4. Data Retention

We keep your account data and uploaded material for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your uploaded material and associated generated content within 30 days, except where we're required to retain billing records for legal or tax purposes (typically 7 years, per standard accounting requirements).

5. Your Rights

You can access, update, or delete your account data at any time from Settings, or by emailing [email protected]. If you're in a region with specific data protection rights (such as the EU's GDPR or UK GDPR), you also have the right to:

• Request a copy of your personal data
• Ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Ask us to delete your data ("right to erasure")
• Object to certain processing of your data

6. Cookies

Learnex uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and maintain your session. We don't use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

7. Children's Privacy

Learnex isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at [email protected] and we'll remove it promptly.

8. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data — encrypted HTTPS connections, access controls on your uploaded files, and restricted internal access to production systems. No system is 100% secure, but we take this seriously and review our security practices regularly.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, notify you by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect.
